(Episodes of discovery and original description)

The priamus from Gebe Is., Indonesia, was described as a new subspecies based on ♂(holotype) collected by J. Waterstradt in 1903, ♀(allotype) collected by I. Toeante in 1981, and 2♂♂, 4♀♀(paratypes), however, earlier, in 1979 it had already been reported by Haugum & Low as ssp. poseidon.

(Characteristics)

A subspecies distributed in the extreme northwest. It is difficult to distinguish it from ssp. poseidon.

(Spotted pattern)

♂: The FW is conspicuously pointed at the apex and the green bands are narrow. Many individuals lack golden spots on the HW.

♀: The ground color of the wings is dark blackish brown. The pale discal spots of spaces 3-5 on the HW reach the cell. In some specimen, a small white spot appears at the apex of the cell.
