elisabethae

6. *Ssp. (?) elisabethae Dufek & Schäffler, 20068) [♂, ♀]

(Distribution)

INDONESIA [Irian Jaya] Yapen Is.

(Characteristics)

A subspecies of which very little is known. It is necessary to examine whether it should be a subspecies or not in the future. However, the discovery of this species from Yapen Is. is very significant.

(Spotted pattern)

♂: The presence of black patches on the cell and space 4 on HW has been noted as distinguishing feature from other subspecies, but this is not a distinctive feature since such patches are also found in ssp. misresiana (♂-f. jeannoti 7)).

♀: The Z-shape of FW cell-spot and the five (generally six) dark discal spots of HW are enumerated. These are not a distinguishing feature, as such spots are also found in other subspecies. The overall impression resembles that of ssp. misoolana from Misool Is.
