(Episodes of discovery and original description)
This new subspecies was described by Hayami in 1992, based on 17♂♂, 11♀♀ from Karimata Island, off the coast of West Kalimantan. The subspecies is named after Hilbert, a German mathematician.
(Characteristics)
This subspecies is founded only on Karimata Islands on the Karimata Strait, about 60 Km southwest of Kalimantan (=Borneo) Island.
(Spotted pattern)
♂: This subspecies is intermediate between ssp. flavicollis with developed vein-stripes on FW, from northern Kalimantan (=Borneo) and ssp. actinotia with most minute vein-stripes, from south. The vein-stripes present only on submarginal area from V1b to V7th and its color is almost entirely yellow. Size of black marginal projections on HW is almost the same size as those of subspecies from northern and southern region of Kalimantan (=Borneo).
♀: Resembles ssp. actinotia, but FW has broader and lighter grayish white vein-stripes. HW is about the same spotted pattern as those of ssp. actinotia.
