(Episodes of discovery and original description)
A new subspecies discovered in 1986 in the Tambelan Island of Borneo system and described by Kobayashi based on 15♂♂and 6♀♀in the same year. The subspecific name perintis means “pioneer” in Indonesian. The same subspecies was reported the following year, 1987, by Okano & Ohkura as ssp. tambelanensis.
(Characteristics)
Very resembles ssp. kuris from Anambas Islands.
(Spotted pattern)
♂: The shape of vein-stripes is the same as in ssp. kuris, but the cell-spot is more yellowish.
♀: Same as ssp. kuris, but with darker ground color.
