1) Troides (Troides) helena (Linnaeus, 1758) (24 subspecies)

2) Troides (Troides) oblongomaculatus (Goeze, 1779) (6 subspecies)

(Characteristics)

  1. This species has the widest habitat and therefore the most subspecies in the Birdwing Butterflies.
  2. FW is long at the inner margin and short in length. HW has a short inner margin and a distinctly wavy outer margin.
  3. HW of ♂ is almost entirely covered with semi-translucent golden patch.
  4. In many subspecies, there are two forms of ♀: dark form (FW without vein-stripes as in ♂) and light form (FW with vein-stripes).
