(Episodes of discovery and original description)

Subspecies described in 1913 based on specimens of both sexes collected in the Tonkin Gulf region (Thanh Moi) of Vietnam by the author himself during June and July (rainy season). The subspecies was named after the ancient sculptor Euthycrates.

(Characteristics)

In some cases, there are included in ssp. cerberus, it differs slightly from the subspecies in other regions in that it is larger and has more pointed FW apex.

♂: On the FW, yellowish vein-stripes are present along the cubital vein and near origins of  V2nd – V4th.

♀: Light form: Distinct FW vein-stripes and long dark discal spots on HW, but more specimens searches are needed to account for individual variation.
