O. aesacus male is light blue in reared (ex pupa) individuals. Field-collected O. aesacus show such a turquoise color, and the difference is obvious. As in the case of Graphium sarpedon, the coloration of O. aesacus is probably due to exposure to the sun after emergence. This shows that most of the individuals in the Ohya collection were collected in the field, which demonstrates the value of the collection as well as the reliability of the collection data. (Yasui)
