    A new year starts

The beginning of April marks the start of the new academic year in Japan. New first-year students attended a welcome ceremony at the Anabuki Arena Kagawa yesterday morning before coming to the Faculty of Agriculture campus in the afternoon. Parents had the opportunity to attend a welcome speech that included a presentation of the strong English curriculum from Prof. Dr. Peter Lutes, two of his students, and myself.

All students now have to choose their classes for the first semester that starts on April 10. I am looking forward to meeting new students and giving my first classes.

In addition, four undergraduate students just arrived from Assumption University, Thailand, for a two-month internship. I will assist Prof. Dr. Peter Lutes with their training, join some activities including a visit of the rare sugar production station and an udon noodle making workshop, and give them a special lecture on Science Communication using my favorite organism: ants.
