INDONESIA (Java) [W. Java] West end of Java, Tinjil Island.
(Characteristics)
The species brookiana was previously thought not to occur in Java Island, but in 1994 the editor obtained 7 specimens from West Java, 11 specimens from Tinjil Island, for a total of 18 ♂♂ specimens. Unfortunately, no ♀ specimens have been obtained, nor are there any records of subsequent collections. Expectations and doubts remain as to whether this species occurs really in End of West Java and Tinjil Islands. We look forward to the future progress of this project.
(Spotted pattern)
♂: Resembles ssp. trogon in both size and pattern, with a slightly smaller golden green HW patch and a minute or absent white spot on the apex of HW. The wedge-shaped green patches on FW are not isolated from each other as in ssp. trogon, but the two patches on inner margin touch or partially fuse with each other.
♀: unknown.
