(Episodes of discovery and original description)
A small subspecies that made headlines when it was first discovered on a remote island west of Sumatra. It was described by Kobayashi based on 10♂♂,6♀♀ collected by Mr. Detani and others between 1984 and 1986.
(Characteristics)
A small subspecies inhabiting the most northwestern area of its range.
(Spotted pattern)
♂: Resemble other subspecies, but golden green wedge-shaped patches on FW surface are small and separate from each other (in other subspecies, the two patches on the inner margin side are fused). The golden green patch on HW is also small, and don’t extend to subcostal space. In addition, there are no white spot in apex of HW. On undersides of both FW and HW, all patches and spots are small, and the cobalt-blue spots are indistinct.
♀: Both golden green wedge-shaped patches and white streaks are obscure on subapical area of FW. On HW, the basal green patch and the row of small white sagittal-shaped spots obscure. On undersides of both FW and HW, cobalt-blue spots are minute.
