  1. Ssp. mollumar D’Abrera, Doggett & Parker, 19763) [♂, ♀]

(Distribution) [Map 64]

  1. MALAYSIA [Johor] Mersing, Ulu Sungai Sedili Besar (Ulu Sedili), Telok Mahkota (=Jason’s Bay), Lombong, Kota Tinggi.

(Episodes of discovery and original description)

The first discoverers were Eliot and Cowan (1937). The specimens used to describe the new subspecies were both from Ulu Sedili, Johor, with the ♂ collected by Doggett on February 17, 1974, and the ♀ collected by Parker on August 29, 1971. The description was made jointly by D’Abrera and the collectors.

(Characteristics)

This subspecies occurs only in a very small southern area of Malay Peninsula. It was once considered as ssp. trogon, because the ♀ lacks white subapical streaks of FW similar to the ♀ of ssp. trogon.

(Spotted pattern)

♂: Except for the green wedge-shaped patch on V1b of FW, all other green patches extend to the outer margin, and HW green patch is extend in an arc in many individuals, but no white spot on the apical region.

♀: On FW surface, the wedge-shaped patches, which are not usual yellowish green, but green, are unevenly arranged outwards and lack of white on subapical area as in ♂. HW green patch is also extended, but a row of white sagittal-shaped submarginal spots is fine. These give it a unique appearance reminiscent of ♂.
