At the Faculty of Agriculture, Kagawa University, chemical biology research in natural product chemistry and biochemistry research in biofunctional engineering are currently in progress. The center will promote research infrastructures such as NMR and X-ray crystallography instruments and research exchange to stimulate joint research.
The center aims to develop lead compounds for drug discovery, health functional materials, and agricultural chemicals for various diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases through the joint research on the search for bioactive natural products, analysis of their mechanism of action, target proteins that bind bioactive organic compounds, functional regulation of these proteins, regulation of gene expression, and structure–function relationship.
