International Exchange and Educational Program for Food Safety

 2018 program: August 20 – September 21, 2018

Program Overview

The International Exchange and Educational Program for Food Safety is an international student exchange program developed by the Food Science Group of Faculty of Agriculture of Kagawa University. This program provides the opportunity for young future researchers to network internationally while gaining international experience. Students are be expected to exchange information, share experiences, and their research with each other. The primary language for this program exchange will be English.

This program will be held at the Faculty of Agriculture from August 21 to September 20, 2017. The Faculty of Agriculture will invite international students to participate in the program.

This program is partially funded by a grant from the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), a governmental support agency for scholarship loan programs, support programs for international students, and student support programs founded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), and the Faculty of Agriculture of Kagawa University.

Some attending students who attend will receive a stipend (in cash) shortly after their arrival to help defray their travel, lodging and other costs. Other students will attend as self-supporting students and will not receive financial assistance. (Please check it your home university if you are eligible for the stipend)

General Requirements

Interns must:

  • be a full-time student of the dispatching university
  • must be enrolled as a full-time student at your university throughout the duration of our program (August 20 – September 21, 2018). So, 4th year students that will graduate before our program begins or finishes are not eligible. NOTE: This condition does not apply to self-funded students.
  • be in a science program (preferably with an interest in food safety)
  • be in the third or fourth year of an undergraduate program, or the first year of a masters program
  • have a GPA above 2.3 on a 3 point system for the most recent academic year
  • submit a resume outlining their research interests and experience; a completed registration form ; a transcript (an unofficial transcript is acceptable in PDF format); and a letter of recommendation from one professor from your faculty/department
  • have proof of travel/health insurance for the period of the internship

  1. a cover letter outlining your research interests, experience and your reasons for wanting to take part in this program
  2. a .pdf of your resume including a head and shoulders photo
  3. a .pdf scan of your transcript (an unofficial transcript from your university website is acceptable)
  4. a completed registration form (available from the faculty contact person of your home university)
  5. a letter of recommendation from one professor from your faculty/department

Please note you must have a GPA of 2.3 or higher on a 3.0 scale.
