Sakura Science Exchange Program 2023 Launched

The Sakura Science Exchange Program 2023 (Nov 5 – Nov 11) hosted by the Faculty of Agriculture, Kagawa University was launched on Nov 5 with an Opening Ceremony and Welcome Ceremony held at the International Office and the Faculty of Agriculture, respectively.

The Faculty of Agriculture will host ten (10) participants from five (5) universities in five (5) countries for the seven (7) day program.

The Sakura Science Exchange Program was established in 2014 by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) to invited talented young human resources for short-term visits to Japan with the goal of providing the chance to experience Japan’s cutting-edge science & technology and Japanese culture. Sakura Science Exchange Program Website.

Day 1

Opening Ceremony

Prof. WADA Kenji, Vice President for International Affairs, Director of International Office, Prof. TERAO Toru, Head of Center for International Research and Cooperation, and Assoc. Prof. Peter LUTES, Faculty of Agriculture, Program Leader officially welcomed the participants to Kagwa University.


Welcome Ceremony

Prof. Masahiro OGAWA, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture & Dean of the Graduate School of Agriculture, Prof. Osamu KAWAMURA, Vice Dean for International Exchange of Faculty of Agriculture, Assoc. Prof. Peter LUTES, Program Leader and host professors welcomed the participants to the Faculty of Agriculture.

Following the Welcome Ceremony, the participants learned about rare sugars and visited the International Institute of Rare Sugar Research and Education to learn about rare sugar research and production first hand.
