SS Program and SUIJI-JP Program Students visit Ajinomoto Frozen Foods Co. – Shikoku Plant

On 24th April 2024, seven international students (three from Thailand, one from Myanmar, and three from Indonesia) of the SS and SUIJI-JP programs at the Graduate School of Agriculture visited the Shikoku Plant of Ajinomoto Frozen Foods Co. Prof. Hirotoshi Tamura and Prof. Toshihiko Higuchi led the tour, which was also joined by Mr. Topoung Taipak, a student of the Special Course on Food Safety.

At the factory, after touring the manufacturing site, we were able to sample frozen foods including halal gyoza dumplings and cakes manufactured at the Gunma Factory. International students commented: “I was able to learn about the difference in the lineup of frozen foods from my home country,” “The factory tour was interesting and I really enjoyed tasting the delicious frozen foods,” and “I was surprised to see efforts and concrete achievements made towards the SDGs, such as reducing CO2 emissions.” We would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone at the Shikoku Plant of Ajinomoto Frozen Foods Co., Ltd. for accepting us. It has been a valuable opportunity for the international students to learn about Japanese frozen foods on site.
