Welcome Party for New International Students 2024
Faculty of Agriculture and Graduate School of Agriculture, Kagawa University
On November 13, 2024, the Faculty of Agriculture at Kagawa University hosted the annualĀ Welcome Party for New International Students and Japanese Students. This event was held to warmly welcome the new international students that were admitted in September and October. It also fostered cultural exchange, deepened intercultural understanding, and promoted international awareness among Japanese students, encouraging their interest in studying abroad.

Event Highlights:
The event, organized by the Faculty’s International Exchange Committee, brought together students, faculty members, staff, and distinguished guests. Held in the faculty lounge, the gathering provided a vibrant setting for introductions, conversations, and cultural exchanges.
Program Overview:
- Opening Remarks by the Dean: Prof. Dr. Ogawa, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, shared inspiring words to kick off the event.
- Greeting by the Mayor of Miki Town: Mr. Yoshiharu Ito, Mayor of Miki Town, extended a warm welcome to the international students, highlighting the town’s commitment to fostering cultural and academic exchange. Other guests addressed the attendees, expressing their support for the internationalization efforts of the faculty.
- Toast by the Chair of the International Exchange Committee: Prof. Dr. Lutes, led a celebratory toast, officially marking the beginning of the party.
- Introduction of New International Students: Recently enrolled international students introduced themselves, with a representative sharing their experiences and aspirations.
- Socializing and Networking: Attendees enjoyed conversations and connections in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
- Student Welcome: A representative of the students of the Faculty of Agriculture, Mr. Mastubara Seira and representative of the students of Miki Junior High School, welcomed the new international students.
- Closing Remarks: The event concluded with words of gratitude and encouragement for continued collaboration and friendship.
This annual tradition not only facilitates the acclimation of international students to life at Kagawa University but also creates a platform for meaningful interactions, fostering a spirit of global citizenship among all participants.
