On April 14, 2026, the opening ceremony of the 2026 Short Stay (SS) Program was held at the Faculty of Agriculture campus.
This year’s program welcomes four undergraduate students from Assumption University, Thailand, a valued partner institution of our faculty. Over the course of approximately two months, the students will immerse themselves in advanced research under the guidance of Professors Ogawa and Yonekura at the Faculty of Agriculture. Their research topics include “Effects of Polyphenol Addition on the Physical Properties of Protein-Based Foods” and “Establishing Assay Conditions for Carotenoid Uptake Using Caco-2 Cells Overlaid with Artificial Mucus.”
In addition to gaining hands-on research experience in well-equipped laboratories, the students will have opportunities to learn about the Faculty of Agriculture’s innovative research environment, while also deepening their understanding of the Japanese language and culture. Through daily interactions with faculty members and students, the program aims to foster both academic growth and meaningful cross-cultural exchange.
The opening ceremony was moderated by Lecturer Khalife, and began with welcoming remarks from Professor Ogawa, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. This was followed by self-introductions from the participating students, who enthusiastically shared their goals and aspirations for the program. Warm welcome messages were also delivered by Professor Lutes, Chair of the International Exchange Committee, and Professor Yonekura, one of the program’s supervising faculty members, underscoring the faculty’s strong support for international education and collaboration.
Through the Short Stay Program, Kagawa University hopes that participating students will not only advance their specialized knowledge and research skills, but also enjoy a rich and fulfilling student experience. The Faculty of Agriculture looks forward to strengthening its partnership with Assumption University and to supporting the students as they take meaningful steps forward in their academic and personal journeys.
