From March 11 to March 16, 2026, Prof. Peter Lutes of the Kagawa University Faculty and Graduate School of Agriculture conducted a series of exploratory visits in Malaysia to strengthen existing institutional connections and explore new opportunities for academic collaboration.
On March 13, Prof. Dr. Peter Lutes visited Universiti Putra Malaysia and met with Prof. Dr. Loh Teck Chwen, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. Discussions focused on the current status of the existing institutional agreement between the universities. While activities under the agreement have primarily involved the Faculty of Medicine and student exchange through the international offices, both sides discussed opportunities to further activate the partnership, particularly in agriculture and graduate education.
On March 16, Prof. Lutes visited Sunway University and met with Professor Dr. Kavita Reginald, Deputy Dean (Employability and Alumni) of the Sir Jeffrey Cheah Sunway Medical School, Faculty of Medical and Life Sciences. As this outreach represents an initial exploratory engagement between the institutions, discussions focused on introducing the Faculty and Graduate School of Agriculture at Kagawa University and learning more about Sunway University’s activities in life sciences and applied sciences. Potential areas for future cooperation discussed included student mobility, joint educational activities, and academic exchange.
Earlier in the visit, on March 11, Prof. Lutes met with Mr. Daigo Sato, Vice Principal of Teikyo Malaysia Japanese Language Institute (Pusat Bahasa Teikyo). The meeting provided an opportunity to learn more about the institute’s Japanese language training programs, which have been highly regarded based on the strong preparation demonstrated by students who have continued their studies at Kagawa University.
These visits provided valuable opportunities to strengthen academic networks in Malaysia and to explore future pathways for collaboration in education, research, and student mobility.
