The education of undergraduate students is carried our in the Department of Applied Biological Science in cooperation with the University Farm and Marine Environment Research Station. The department provides the following four academic courses:
・ Applied Life Science
・ Bioresource Production Science
・ Bioresource Chemistry and Bioenvironmental Science
・ Food Science
[Applied Life Science Course]
Students in the course learn biological phenomena and functions of various forms of life (from microorganisms to plant and animals of the higher orders). They also learn the basic knowledge and advanced technology of life science.
[Bioresource Production Science Course]
Students in the course learn the principle and technology of bioresource production, post-harvest and environmental control including economics.
[Bioresource Chemistry and Bioenvironmental Science Course]
Students in the course learn basic knowledge and application of various chemical substances with biological functions. They also learn the basic knowledge and applied technology about chemistry and biology of various ecosystems ranging from the terrestrial land to the seas.
[Food Science Course]
Students in the course learn the technology for developing fond with consumer preference and functionality, and learn the basic chemical knowledge to understand the functions of food. They also learn food functionality, food safety, food processing property and the preference for food.
