As a research center for plant genome and gene source analysis at Kagawa University, the Center held 13 times of international and domestic conferences as Phytogene Symposium and 116 times of monthly seminars, aiming to contribute to securing research personnel and to propose the results of basic research to society in a more concrete form using plants for practical use.

Professor Masayuki Fujita, a member of the Center, was selected as a "Highly Cited Researchers 2021" by Clarivate Analytics, Inc.

Plant Genome and Gene Source Center was renamed Genome and Gene Source Center to promote integrated genome research analysis by expanding the target organisms to include microorganisms and animals.
