Purpose


This program began as a joint project of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Kagawa University formed a consortium with Japanese companies dealing with frozen foods or developing food resources overseas to create the “Career Development Program on Safety for Frozen Foods”. Developing “safety food” requires the development of a systematic approach encompasses all aspects of food production such as training, harvest, processing, circulation, and sale of crops. This program will nurture and develop talented, internationally-minded people with a working command of Japanese language and business culture with strong managerial skills and a deep understanding of management philosophy.

Overview

  • 1. Students will systematically study frozen food manufacture technology from the production of ingredients to the distribution of food.
  • 2. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of management techniques and philosophy.
  • 3. Students will be able to develop and utilize technology to meet strategic targets.
  • 4. Students will develop problem solving skills and strategies problem and learn how to
      implement solutions.
  • 5. Students will develop a full knowledge of the safety food (HACCP, traceability) and protection of consumer interests.
  • 6. Students will learn administration techniques at international standards (such as ISO 9001), and can play leadership roles in the establishment of food facilities.

  • Specialized practical and theoretical education, such as a concept of frozen technology, food preservation and food packaging technology, distribution systems, ISO.

The goals

This program was funded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry until 2011. Through the following activities, Kagawa University is strengthening and developing the program and this program has continued as an independent program. These efforts and the program will be greatly enhanced by the planned establishment of the safety food analysis center.

  • ○ Independence of student life and the education environment maintenance:Establishment of the Kagawa University Asian Fund.
  • ○ Independence of job hunting: Cooperation with the Kagawa University Career Support Center.
  • ○ Independence of education system: The development of recurrent education of food science and technology and research and education center for frozen food.
  • ○ Independence of business Japanese education: Examination and cooperation with our consortium business partners in developing new areas of study.
