Overview: 2023 JICA Training Program for Japanese Descendants

The 2023 JICA Training Program for Japanese Descendants 2023 JICA Training Program for Japanese Descendants (October 1 – 25) reached a successful conclusion. The program was hosted by the Faculty of Agriculture and the International Office of Kagawa University and supported by JICA. 

The JICA Trainees arrived in Yokohama on October 1, and underwent a one-week orientation that included basic Japanese language skills to help them adjust to Japan. Following this, the trainees came to Kagawa to attend a training program organized by the Faculty of Agriculture and the International Office.

During their 16 days (October 10-25) in Kagawa, the Trainees focussed on how to run a successful food business in their home country adapting Japanese food, culture and know how. The studied about food science, business planning and presentation techniques, the role of fusion cuisine in a globalized world, and udon noodle making. They also had to opportunity to learn from owners of successful businesses, saw examples of restaurant management, and discussed business models & professional skills.

After completing the month-long training, they presented their own business plans based on the what they learned and experience during the program.



PROGRAM TITLE: Development of a New, Small Food Business

Dates: October 1, 2023 – October 25, 2023

Overview: The 2023 JICA Training Program for Japanese Descendants will be hosted in Japan at the JICA Training Center in Yokohama and at Kagawa Univeristy at the Saiwai and Agriculture Campuses. There will be some studies to be completed before coming to Japan using Video on Demand.

(Food safety: preparation and handling; Product Development and Promotion, and Back-casting for Business Model Development)

This special program was developed as part of the Training Program for Japanese Descendants. It is supported by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). To purpose of this program is to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to establish a a new food business in their home countries.

JICA 2023 Training Program for Japanese Descendants

This training program, “Development of a New, Small Food Business”,  is supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as part of the   JICA Training Program for Japanese Descendants.  It was developed to provide opportunities people of Japanese descent to visit Japan to acquire techniques and knowledge, and then apply these  acquired techniques and knowledge to the social, technical or scientific development of their own countries.

The 2023 Program focusses on Latin America, specifically Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela.
