Hi everyone! My name is Peter Lutes, and I’m excited to share a little about myself and my work with you today. I’m a dedicated educator with a passion for helping students develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in today’s interconnected world.
I teach communication and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in the Faculty of Agriculture and the Graduate School of Agriculture at Kagawa University. My courses focus not only on language proficiency but also on practical communication strategies that prepare students for academic, professional, and social settings. I strongly believe that education should be engaging, meaningful, and connected to real-world opportunities.
One of the areas I’m most proud of is my work with international exchange programs and internships. As the Chair of the International Exchange Committee, I’ve had the chance to coordinate programs that give students the opportunity to travel abroad, experience new cultures, and build global networks. These programs, supported by organizations like JASSO and JST, help students expand their horizons and grow both academically and personally.
I’m also passionate about the ethical integration of artificial intelligence in education. I believe AI has the potential to revolutionize learning, making it more personalized and accessible. At the same time, I emphasize the importance of critical thinking and ethical considerations to ensure that technology serves as a tool to enhance education rather than replace human connections.
In my teaching and program development, I focus on creating supportive and collaborative learning environments where students feel encouraged to take risks, express themselves, and think creatively. Education, for me, is not just about transmitting knowledge but about empowering students to become lifelong learners and active contributors to society.

みなさん、こんにちは！私はピーター・ルーツと申します。今日は私自身と私の仕事について、少しお話しできることを楽しみにしています。
私は香川大学農学部および大学院農学研究科で、コミュニケーションと英語（EFL）を教えています。私の授業では、言語能力の向上だけでなく、学術的、職業的、そして社会的な場面で役立つ実践的なコミュニケーションスキルも重視しています。教育は、楽しくて意味があり、実社会とつながっているべきだと強く信じています。
特に誇りに思っているのは、国際交流プログラムやインターンシップに関わる仕事です。国際交流委員会の委員長として、学生が海外で学び、新しい文化を体験し、グローバルなネットワークを築く機会を提供するプログラムを企画・運営してきました。これらのプログラムは、JASSOやJSTといった団体の支援を受けており、学生が学問的にも個人的にも成長するのをサポートしています。
また、教育へのAIの倫理的な統合にも情熱を持っています。AIは学習をよりパーソナライズし、アクセスしやすくする可能性を秘めていると考えています。その一方で、テクノロジーが人と人とのつながりを置き換えるのではなく、教育を支えるツールとして活用されるよう、批判的思考と倫理的視点を重視しています。
私は教育やプログラム開発において、学生がリスクを恐れずに挑戦し、自分を表現し、創造的に考えることができる、支え合い協力し合う学習環境を作ることを目指しています。教育は単に知識を伝えることではなく、学生が生涯学び続け、社会に貢献する力を育むことだと思っています。
