Should we bring our own laptop?
Yes, we recommend you bring your own laptop. In the university, you will have access to our network.
Will we have Internet access in our hotel rooms?
Yes, but the connection speed varies according to your room.
It is possible to rent a mobile internet router at the airport, or buy a SIMM card at some airports.

Can I use my cell phone in Japan?
Yes, (depending on your carrier) but it is extremely expensive. Typical charges are 300-400 JPY per minute. You should plan on using Skype, Line, Facebook or email at the university to communicate with friends and family. We recommend that you get a SIMM card for Japan.
You can purchase them at the airport in Japan but, generally speaking, they are more expensive . You should prepare a SIMM card for your phone before you come to Japan.
Can I rent a mobile phone?

Clothing
What kind of clothing should I bring?
In general, casual clothing is fine for classes. However, there will be a few times that you will need to dress more formally. Men typically will wear a shirt, tie and jacket and slacks and women, a skirt (or long slacks) a blouse, and jacket. Please bring an apron for the practical food preparation activities.

On other days, comfortable casual clothing. Please keep in mind that in Japan is a family conservative country, so casual; wear would be “polo type shirts”, open neck collar shirts, etc., with trousers, slacks skirts, or similar.
At JICA in Yokohama, you will probably need both formal and semi-casual clothing.
What is the weather like?
Weather Summary: Takamatsu, October 14–29
In mid-to-late October, Takamatsu experiences a gradual cooling from early autumn warmth into the chill of late fall. Daytime highs generally range from about 22 °C (early period) to around 19 °C (late period), while overnight lows decrease from approx. 16 °C down to 14 °C toward the month’s end. Rainfall is moderate — historically there are around 8 rainy days in that span, with about 5–6 mm per day on average, summing to roughly 40–50 mm for the two-week period. Skies tend to clear as October progresses, shifting from partly cloudy to somewhat sunnier conditions by the latter half.
