The Faculty of Agriculture welcomes interns from Assumption University
The Faculty of Agriculture at Kagawa University has welcomed four student interns from the Theophane Venard School of Biotechnology, Assumption University, Thailand. This international internship program has been organized through the collaboration of Prof. Dr. Peter Lutes, Chair of the International Exchange Committee at Kagawa University, and Lect. Dr. Atittaya Tandhanskul, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for Global Academic Development and Industrial Collaboration at Assumption University.
Internship Overview
- Duration: March 28 – June 1, 2025
Program Summary
The internship program has been designed to provide visiting students with a comprehensive academic and cultural experience. Activities have been scheduled across research laboratories, academic departments, and regional agricultural sites. The program has been structured as follows:
- March 28–31:
The interns arrive in Japan and formally received by the host institution. Orientation sessions were conducted to introduce the Faculty of Agriculture, its educational programs, and facilities. - April 1–5:
Initial research placements, where students were introduced to ongoing projects and methodologies. Supervisor: Prof. Lutes - April 7–22:
Departmental rotations are facilitated, allowing interns to engage with faculty and research activities across various disciplines, including the Food Science Area, Plant Science, Biomolecular Chemistry, and Environmental and Ecological Functions. - April–May (Ongoing):
Laboratory research will be carried out under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Yamaguchi (Environmental Science Group) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yanagita (Animal Science Group). Weekly academic sessions were also held, including:- International Communication Seminars led by Dr. Prof. Lutes and Lect. Dr. Khalife
- Japanese Language Classes coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Takamizu and Assoc. Prof. Shioi
- May 29:
A Final Presentation and Closing Ceremony will be held\. Attendees will include Professors Ogawa, Kawamura, Lutes, Yonekura, Ishii, and others involved in hosting and mentoring the interns. - June 1:
The interns will return to Thailand, concluding the two-month training and exchange program.
