The Faculty of Agriculture is pleased to welcome Dr. Adam Khalife as a new full-time lecturer. A true language enthusiast, Dr. Khalife grew up speaking French as his mother tongue and went on to study English, Spanish, and Italian, as well as Latin and Ancient Greek. However, during high school, he chose a different career path, becoming a biologist to nurture his growing interest in the natural sciences.
While pursuing his university studies, Dr. Khalifebegan learning Japanese through anime and music, and he completed multiple research internships in Japan. In 2020, he earned a PhD in Ecology and Evolution from Sorbonne University in Paris. He then joined the University of Le Mans in France as a lecturer in Biology.
Dr. Khalife joined our faculty in 2022 as a JSPS postdoctoral fellow and has decided to combine his passions for science and languages by taking on the role of lecturer in Applied Communications.
With his experience in scientific writing and international presentations, along with his background as a trained biologist and non-native speaker of English, Dr. Khalife brings valuable insight into the needs and expectations of our students.

農学部におけるアダム・カリーフ博士の着任について
このたび、香川大学農学部は、アダム・カリーフ先生を専任講師として迎えることとなりました。
カリーフ博士は幼少期より言語に強い関心を持ち、母語であるフランス語に加え、英語、スペイン語、イタリア語、さらにはラテン語や古代ギリシャ語を学ばれました。しかし、高校時代に自然科学への興味が高まり、生物学の道を志すことを決意されました。
大学在学中には、日本のアニメや音楽を通じて日本語を学び始め、日本国内で複数の研究インターンシップを経験されました。2020年には、パリのソルボンヌ大学において生態学・進化学の博士号を取得され、その後、フランスのル・マン大学にて生物学の講師として従事されました。
2022年より、カリーフ先生はJSPS特別研究員として本学に着任され、このたび、科学と言語の双方に対する情熱を活かし、応用コミュニケーションの講師として新たな役割を担われることとなりました。
科学論文の執筆や国際学会での発表に関する豊富な経験を有するとともに、生物学者としての専門的知見、さらに非ネイティブの英語話者としての視点を兼ね備えたカリーフ先生は、学生のニーズと期待に応える貴重な知見を提供されることでしょう。
