2024 JICA Training Program for Japanese Descendants

The 2024 JICA Training Program for Japanese Descendants (October 6 – 31) began with an official welcome at the Faculty of Agriculture of Kagawa University. The Trainees, Ms. Kamatami, JICA Coordinator, and Mr. Oguri of Shikoku Center, JICA were welcomed to the Faculty of Agriculture by Prof. Kawamura, Vice Dean for International Exchange and Prof. Lutes, Chair of the International Exchange Committee.

The program is being hosted by the Faculty of Agriculture and the International Office of Kagawa University and supported by JICA. The program is designed and led by Prof. Lutes, Faculty of Agriculture and Assoc. Prof. Takamizu, International Office.

During their 16 days (October 15-20) in Kagawa, the Trainees will focus on how to run a successful food business in their home country adapting Japanese food, culture and know how. They will studied about food science, business planning and presentation techniques, the role of fusion cuisine in a globalized world, and udon noodle making. They also will have opportunities to learn from owners of successful businesses, saw examples of restaurant management, and discussed business models & professional skills.

After completing the month-long training, they will present their own business plans based on the what they learned and experience during the program.
