Educational Philosophy of the Graduate School of Agriculture

The Graduate School of Agriculture of Kagawa University aims for the academic development of applied biological science field by studying various functions of living organisms and provides education and research in advanced and comprehensive application technologies related to the creation and utilization of useful biological resources. Education that develops graduates with advanced expertise related to the production and use of biological resources and with problem-exploring and problem-solving skills are conducted. Through the academic research of international standard and the development of human resources with practical skills, the Graduate School of Agriculture aims to contribute widely to the local community.
Diploma Policy (Accreditation standards/ Principles guiding graduation requirements)
Based on its educational philosophy, the Graduate School of Agriculture aims to foster advanced professionals who are actively involved in the international fields of bioscience business and bioscience research. Students gain expert knowledge and research/development capabilities regarding applied biological science and rare sugar science, and high ethical standards to create a sustainable and harmonious relationship between society and the natural environment. The criteria to achieve a master’s degree (in agriculture) from this graduate school are as follows:
1. Expertise in Field of Specialty
*Understanding and acquisition of expert knowledge and advanced scientific techniques related to applied biological science and rare sugars *Excellent discernment as advanced professionals based on extensive knowledge and expertise
2. Research and development capabilities
*The ability to plan and carry out research based on one’s own logical opinions, and the ability to transmit and discuss the outcome in their field of specialization *The ability to recognize problems related to the applied biological sciences including rare sugars in both local and international situations, and to execute the procedures necessary to resolve these problems in order to promote a sustainable society in harmony with the natural environment
3. Ethical and social responsibility
*The ability to play an active role as advanced professionals with high ethical perspective and social responsibility, aiming to create a sustainable and harmonious relationship between society and the natural environment while promoting the production and utilization of biological resources
4. Global Mind
*The ability to present and explain their own logical opinions against local and international issues regarding applied biological science and rare sugar science in Japanese and English in order to create a sustainable and harmonious relationship between society and the natural environment
